Free models now ask for your consent
Free models are served by providers that may use your inputs for their own purposes. You now confirm that once per model. Here is why and how.
Free models on UnoRouter are free for a reason: the providers behind them may use what you send for their own purposes, for example to train their models. EU data protection law requires your informed consent for that, so each free model now asks for it once before you use it. It builds on the provider labels we introduced yesterday.
Why we ask
Paid models are part of the service you buy from us. Free models are different: their providers are not bound to us by contract and can keep or use your inputs on their own terms, and we cannot get those inputs back or have them deleted. A one time consent per model makes sure you know that before anything is sent. Do not enter other people's personal data, and we advise against entering your own. The details are in our privacy policy.
How to give consent
Open the free models page, find the model and click Consent. The dialog shows the countries the providers of that model are based in. You can also consent in the chat: pick a free model and the same dialog appears. The page lists offline models too, so you can consent before a model is back online.
If you use the API
Please give your consents now. Soon a request to a free model without consent will be refused with the error free_consent_required. The error message links straight to the chat with that model preselected, so fixing it takes one click.
Without an account
Guests can still try free models. Your consent is then linked to your browser through a random guest ID, and you can see and withdraw it under Manage consents in the chat menu.
Withdrawing, and business accounts
You can withdraw a consent at any time on the free models page, in your account settings or in the chat; the model is then blocked for you until you consent again. Free models are not available to business accounts, because their prompts may contain personal data of other people.
Ready? Open the free models page and enable the models you use.
Every model page now shows where each provider is based and flags countries without EU data protection safeguards. Here is what the labels mean, how to choose your route, and what else changed.
For four days we served LoreBary's in-house model without permission. Here is what happened, what we changed, and exactly what UnoRouter keeps about you.
ai-model-verifier is the engine behind our model tester, published on npm under AGPL-3.0. Give it a base URL, a key and a model and it tells you whether the endpoint serves what it sells, now with thinking-signature and token-billing checks.
